Study smarter, not longer.
Why it works
Less to read. More that sticks.
Built on the exam outline
Every page maps to the official BBS LMFT Clinical Exam outline, so you always know which domain you're studying and how much it's worth.
Summary-sheet format
Dense, full-width pages with comparison tables and short cards instead of long paragraphs. Easy to skim, easy to review the night before.
Decision trees for practice tests
Step-by-step trees for the questions that trip people up, kept together at the end so you can use them while you work through practice exams.

How to use it
A companion, not a course.
This guide works best alongside a full prep course, or once you've started practice tests. Use it to review fast, fill the gaps your practice scores point to, and keep the trickiest rules in one place.

Who made this
Written by an LMFT who passed.
I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, so I know how hard it is to juggle it all: collecting your hours, giving your clients your best care, keeping up with notes and paperwork, and still finding time to study (and maybe even rest).
When I studied for the clinical exam, I turned everything into summary sheets and decision trees because that's what actually helped me remember it. I passed, and I'm sharing those notes in the hope that they make your studying a little simpler.
You've already put in so much work to get here. You've got this.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
What exactly are LMFT exam notes?
They're condensed study notes for the California LMFT Clinical Exam: the material you need to know, rewritten as summary sheets, comparison tables and decision trees instead of long chapters. Ours follow the BBS exam outline domain by domain, so you always know which part of the exam you're studying.
Does this replace a prep course?
No. It's a study companion designed to be used alongside a full prep course and practice tests. It simplifies and organizes the material so reviewing is faster.
What format is it in?
It's an online guide you open in your browser, on your laptop, tablet or phone. Want to print it or study offline? Add the full guide as a downloadable PDF, either at checkout or later from your library.
How do I log in?
Right after checkout you're signed in automatically. On another device, click Log in, enter the email you used at checkout, and we'll email you a one-click sign-in link. No password needed.
Which should I buy?
If you want everything, get the full guide. It already includes the Law, Ethics & Crisis section and the Practice Test Companion. The $22 parts are for people who only need help with one area.
Is it up to date?
It's organized around the current BBS LMFT Clinical Exam outline. Laws and regulations change, so always check the official BBS website for the latest rules.
Can I get a refund?
Because the guides are digital products you can access right away, all sales are final. If you can't access what you bought, you were charged twice, or you were charged in error, email us within 14 days and we'll make it right. Details are in the terms of sale.
Can I share it with a study partner?
Each purchase is a personal license for one person, so your study partner will need their own copy. For groups or supervisees, email us about group pricing.
Are you affiliated with the BBS?
No. The Study Guide Wizard is an independent study resource, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, and it doesn't contain real exam questions. See the disclaimer.
I have another question.
